PE Komunalec along with the Municipality of Bitola became part of the regional project ‘Data collection on solid waste in South-Eastern Europe’ implemented in cooperation with the German agency for international cooperation (GIZ) using the Open regional fund for modernizing municipal services (ORF MMS) and supported by the Swiss agency for development and cooperation (SDC). For this occasion, representatives of the agencies supporting this project, representatives of the public enterprise Komunalec and representatives from the Municipality of Bitola handed a Declaration for cooperation of the regional municipalities participating in this project. The project’s objective is to increase the capacities of the public communal enterprises and municipalities in the area of waste management, exchange knowledge and good practices on the regional level in order to more efficiently develop and use the data on the collected, processed and disposed communal waste. Part of the project is to analyze the quantities and composition of solid waste on the territory of the Municipality of Bitola, after which the data received will be used in the following stages to propose measures on how to manage the waste. The project will be implemented in four countries from South-Eastern Europe: Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia and will last until February 2016. Three more municipalities from Macedonia, other than Bitola, are included in this project.
